Melbourne Angels supports Geelong ICT $50,000 IT Invention Test
Melbourne Angels, as Victoria's only Angel Investor group, is an active supporter of a range of entrepreneurial initiatives in Victoria.
The $50,000 IT Invention Test is a national investment pitching competition founded by ICT Geelong. Melbourne Angels provided active support with its members delivering a number of workshops in the early rounds of the competition and judging each round of the competition.
Melbourne Angels President and Founder, Jordan Green, was a keynote speaker at the Technology Entrepreneurship Forum that preceded the final pitches and judging in Geelong on October 28th, 2011. The following week Jordan teamed with Jerry Engel from the Haas School of Business at Berkeley University in California to deliver an entrepreneur boot-camp for finalists and other contestants in the Invention Test. Melbourne Angels member Maurice Grasso was also on the faculty of the boot-camp.
This active involvement by Melbourne Angels reflects the commitment of the group to supporting the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Victoria and the active interest of the group to invest in promising start-up ventures across a broad range of sectors. The standard of the finalists was very high and the group anticipates investing in at least one of those companies in the coming months.

Bendigo Inventor of the Year Awards
June 2011
In May and June Melbourne Angels members Jordan Green and Michael Stroeder have been panelists in Bendigo for this important regional program. These workshops were well attended with over 70 people at each workshop and networking continuing well after the official close. As usual our Angels were in high demand and able to give a variety of valuable guidance to the many inventors and entrepreneurs in the room. Several investment prospects arose that are being further evaluated by the Melbourne Angels.
The group actively supports entrepreneurs and innovators throughout the State of Victoria. We know that great ideas will come from many sources and great investment opportunities arise in all of our State's towns and cities. Working with regional communities is just one way to promote the success of early-stage enterprise in Victoria.
Later in the year Melbourne Angels members will participate in other events to support the Bendigo Inventor Awards and their important role in showcasing the imagination and talent of inventors and entrepreneurs in regional Victoria.

The John Heine Entrepreneurial Challenge 2009 December 2009
Our members are frequently involved in university business competitions as judges, mentors and organisers. This year we were very pleased to have five members involved in the John Heine Entrepreneurial Challenge which commemorates a great Australian business man and entrepreneur. This year the competition, organised by the Queensland University of Technology was held in Melbourne at the Swinburne University of Technology - Australian Graduate School of Entrepreneurship on December 10th and 11th with the awards dinner Friday night at the Stamford Plaza Hotel in the CBD.
Melbourne Angels members David Bennett, Paul Breen and Wolfgang Kissel were mentors for competing teams from Bond University, Australian National University and Swinburne University of Technology respectively. Members Tom McKaskill and Jordan Green were judges for the competition. Other Angel support for this competition included Ruth Drinkwater, CEO of the Australian Association of Angel Investors who was also a judge.
All the teams from around the nation made an impressive effort with their projects and the organisers are to be commended on an outstanding success for the series of events that comprise the Challenge.
We are particularly proud of our members Wolfgang Kissel and Paul Breen who mentored the first and second place winners, respectively. This certainly emulates the success we strive to deliver to the entrepreneurs who gives us the opportunity to invest in their businesses.
